Pin Point Heritage Museum's 10th Birthday Celebration

  • Pin Point Heritage Museum 9924 Pin Point Avenue Savannah, GA, 31406 United States (map)

Pin Point Heritage Museum will host a 10th Birthday celebration on Saturday, June 25th. The Museum is located in the former A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory and the community was founded in 1896 by freedmen after the Civil War. The former factory has been transformed into an educational center for visitors to authentically learn about the Gullah/Geechee culture directly from residents who grew up in the small, close-knit community. Guests can discover the residents’ unique lifeways, from daily life to religion, language and food.

Pin Point Heritage Museum’s 10th Birthday will include presentations and activities from The Pin Point Betterment Society, Savannah African Art Museum, Ossabaw Island Foundation, and Pin Point Heritage Museum’s Legacy Education Specialists. Each partner will speak about their connection with the Pin Point community and the Gullah/Geechee culture. Staff and attendees will celebrate with birthday treats at 1pm.

The event will take place at Pin Point Heritage Museum, 9924 Pin Point Ave., Savannah, GA 31406, on the scenic Moon River from 9am to 4pm. Activities and treats are included in general admission ($10 per person) and as always, is FREE for Coastal Heritage Society members!
