Once Upon a Summer: Shrek

  • Lucas Theatre for the Arts 32 Abercorn Street Savannah, GA, 31401 United States (map)

A misunderstood ogre (Mike Myers) who only wants to be left alone reluctantly agrees to rescue a princess in hopes of reclaiming his swamp from an invasion of talking pigs, wayward wooden boys, and near-sighted rodents banished there by a lord with a very small castle. But he gets more than he bargained for when a wisecracking donkey (Eddie Murphy) tags along to Duloc, and the princess (Cameron Diaz) proves determined to micromanage her own rescue. Add a curse, a dragon, and a band of merry men, and you have a fantastically fractured fairy tale overflowing with wit and heart. Celebrating 25 years, the first winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature made Scottish accents cool, made Smash Mouth eternally relevant, and with its irresistibly funny and charmingly irreverent spirit, still makes believers of us all.

Tickets for the film are $5 for SCAD Card holders, students, seniors, and military; and $8 for the general public. Children ages 12 and under receive free admission.
