Telfair Museums’ PULSE Art + Technology Festival returns with amazing exhibitions at the Jepson Center, lectures by featured artists, STEAM programs for students, a curator’s tour, a Friday night performance and a Free Family Day.

DAYTIME EVENTS

PULSE Artists Talks for students
January 26, 11am
(Grades 4 and up) Participating artists will present short talks on their technology-based work. To register groups for this program, contact daughtryc@telfair.org.

PULSE STEAM Talks for Students
January 27, 11am
(Grades 4 and up) Speakers: Ambria Berksteiner (Operation One STEM at a Time), Timothy Cone (Georgia Institute of Technology CEISMC Program). To register groups for this program, contact daughtryc@telfair.org.

PULSE Curator’s Tour
January 27, 2pm
Join PULSE curator Harry DeLorme and artists for a walking tour of PULSE exhibitions at the Jepson Center. Free by advance registration. Register here.

Youth Workshop: “Video Game Character Design in Scratch” (6th – 8th Grade)
January 28, 10am-12pm
Instructor: Lauren White. Middle schoolers are invited to join us for a fun workshop led by the Beaufort Digital Corridor. Level 1: Character Design. This class offers the basics of character design and coding. Create your own sprites and bring them to life with animation frames, well-made coding scripts, and creative mathematics. Register here.

PULSE Opening reception/ PULSE Opening Lecture by Will Penny, Scenocosme
January 26, 5:30-7:30pm
Join Savannah-based artist Will Penny and Scenocosme (Grégory Lasserre and Anaïs met den Ancxt), who will be joining live virtually from France. Reception begins at 5:30pm, lecture begins 6:15pm. Members Free. Non-member adults $20/ students $5. Register here.


PULSE Free Friday Night & Evening Performance
January 27, 6-8pm
Enjoy activities in the museum including demos of interactive art by PULSE guest artists. Join the Tybee Ballet Theatre for a 6pm performance of “Solstice in Cymatics” as they explore the visionary world of sound and vibrations through the lens of movement. Britt Bacon and Kate Petit joined forces in January 2020, creating the Tybee Ballet Theatre, a dance education studio functioning under the non-profit Tybee Arts Association. Free and open to the public.


PULSE Free Family Day at the Jepson Center
January 28, 1pm-4pm
Enjoy a day of free admission to the Jepson Center to explore the new PULSE exhibitions, PULSE interactive art demonstrations, mobile game demonstrations and hands on art making activities for children and families. Free for local residents.
