For the seventh consecutive year The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia is orchestrating another defining Savannah event. The Annual Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend is a three-day series of presentations, tours, and events dedicated to the promotion of Savannah’s robust historic preservation efforts and its best-in-class examples of American architecture and design. The Society is a registered 501c3 organization and all proceeds from the events benefit two of the city’s nineteenth-century treasures, The Andrew Low House Museum and The Green-Meldrim House.
Savannah’s historic architecture and interior have inspired artists since the eighteenth century and still do today. This year we celebrate this tradition with events in historic homes and gardens surrounded by inspired classic works of antiques, art, and architecture. To kick off the events this year a reception to meet our keynote speaker, private house tour hosts, and the exhibit designer will be held in the Andrew Low House Museum and Garden featuring special tours that focus on the antique collections. To add to the fun Philip Mitchell will be signing his book, Collected Interior: Rooms the Tell a Story, and historical cocktails will be featured at this event.
Our keynote speaker is award-winning designer Philip Mitchell who will join us for a luncheon and book signing. Mitchell believes that every home is as distinctive as each individual and tells a unique story. Thanks to his ability to create strikingly beautiful living spaces that complement the distinct personalities and lifestyle of each client, Philip Mitchell Design has built an international presence. He always incorporates his clients’ collections into their homes.
There will be an engaging exhibition of inspired artworks based on antiques and architectural elements from the Andrew Low House Museum and the Green-Meldrim House. The Exhibit will be designed by Savannah designer, Chuck Chewning, and will be held in the Green-Meldrim House. These original works of art will be featured in our online and silent auction.
