COASTAL HERITAGE SOCIETY HOSTS ANNUAL ART AND

OYSTERS EVENT – MAR. 21

SAVANNAH, GA – Jan. 23, 2024 – Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) will host their annual “Art and Oysters” event from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at Pin Point Heritage Museum, located at 9924 Pin Point Ave in Savannah. The former factory has been transformed into an educational center for visitors to learn about the Gullah/Geechee culture authentically and directly from residents who grew up in the small, close-knit community.

Guests spend an evening at Pin Point Heritage Museum with the region’s most popular artists, delicious food, and beautiful views of the Moon River. Art & Oysters shares elements of Gullah/Geechee culture through food, music, and art, while proceeds from the event support the Museum. The silent
art auction features 10-15 artists who build a unique narrative through their works about life on the coast and Gullah/Geechee culture. Tickets for this event are $75 for CHS members and $100 for nonmembers and sponsorship levels begin at $500.

“Pin Point is one of the last Gullah/Geechee communities still inhabited by descendants of the Freedman who founded it and their history is told through Pin Point Heritage Museum. Art & Oysters is vital to the museum’s future and this enticing fundraiser event is one that the community will not want to miss,” said Nora Lee, CEO of CHS.

Preregistration is required for this event. To register, please visit https://bit.ly/ArtOysters24. To inquire about sponsorship opportunities for this event, email development@chsgeorgia.org for more information. The mission of Coastal Heritage Society is to provide educational experiences for the public through the
preservation and presentation of the historic resources of coastal Georgia and adjacent regions. Coastal Heritage Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1975 which operates six historic museums. For more information about CHS, please visit chsgeorgia.org

200th Anniversary St. Patrick's Day Tour and Dinner

6:00 PM18:00

200th Anniversary St. Patrick's Day Tour and Dinner

Savannah True History Tours and Moon River Brewing Company are thrilled to present a celebration commemorating Savannah's 200th St. Patrick's Day Parade! Did you know the original parade route went from the Catholic Cathedral to today's Moon River Brewing Company?

We'll begin the experience with a 1-hour walking tour, led by former National Park Service Ranger Brandon Carter. We'll begin at the now lost Liberty Square (today's Montgomery St. & W York St.), site of 1824's Catholic Cathedral. The tour will detail the coming of the Irish to Savannah, the original Hibernian Society, and the first St. Patrick's Day Parade. We'll make our way to the site of the old City Hotel (today's Moon River Brewing Company) just as our city's forefathers did during the first parade 200 years ago.

At Moon River, you'll be treated to a delicious meal, along with a 12oz. sample of the brewery's beer. Over dinner, your guide will recite some of the very words first said in this building by a Catholic bishop on the evening of Savannah's first St. Patrick's Day parade. Your guide will even give the very toasts that were uttered two hundred years earlier!

Menu options include:

Sandwiches (includes one side):
Pulled Pork Shoulder
Beer Bratwurst
The Big Cheese
Chicken Sandwich (fried or grilled)
Chicken Caesar Wrap

Chicken Tenders (served with fries)
House Salad

Chicken Caesar Salad
One Pound of Chicken Wings

**The event will begin at 132 Montgomery St., just outside the western entrance of the Robinson Parking Garage and will end at Moon River Brewing**

March 13: Mix it up at the Moon featuring Jameson Irish Whiskey
Plant Riverside District's Electric Moon Skytop Lounge offers monthly interactive mixology classes as part of the Mix It Up at the Moon series. Featuring master mixologists and brand ambassadors from around the globe, Mix It Up at the Moon showcases a rotating series of experts throughout the year. At each event, guests learn how to make two signature cocktails and enjoy signature dishes from Electric Moon's culinary team. Jameson Irish Whiskey is a blended Irish Whiskey. First, the distillery takes the best of pot still and fine grain whiskeys. Then they triple distill them- not because they have to but because they want to as it gives it its signature smoothness. Finally, they age them in oak casks for a minimum of 4 years. It’s where they recommend starting your whiskey journey. How to drink it? Any way you like but we will bring new ways to you during this fun evening. Just add mates and widen the circle. Triple distilled, twice as smooth, one of a kind. Two highlighted Jameson Irish Whiskey Cocktails will be "Just a Splash of Cran" with Jameson, Angostura Bitter, Cinnamon Syrup, Lemon Juice and Lemon and "Irish 43" with Jameson, Liquor 43, Irish Cream, garnished with shaved chocolate. Accompanying these delicious cocktails will be a menu offering of "Shepherd’s Pie" and "Short Rib Guinness Roast" prepared by the Electric Moon culinary team under the direction of Chef Gonzalo. Tickets are available online at www.plantriverside.com.
