Welcome, Mark McDonald: Architecture of the Last Colony and More!
For a Green-Meldrim House’s Parlor Presentation on Thursday, November 21 at 6 p.m., Mark C. McDonald returns to Savannah to deliver a program on architecture and preservation. The impetus is the October 2023 publication of Architecture of the Last Colony by the University of Georgia Press. He will talk about the content of the book which includes the best examples of historic preservation in Georgia. Following the program, attendees may purchase a book and have it personalized.
Montgomery, Alabama native, McDonald recently retired from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation after 15 years of service as its CEO. Last year, with his impending retirement, he was asked to name his five favorite historic buildings in the state. One was the Green-Meldrim House as a fine example of Gothic Revival architecture.
Following his talk there will be a reception and an opportunity to get acquainted or reacquainted with McDonald. The program is free of charge, but attendees are asked to RSVP to reserve a seat at 912-233-3845 or jcredle@greenmeldrimhouse.org
