Savannah True History Tours and Moon River Brewing Company are thrilled to present a celebration commemorating Savannah's 200th St. Patrick's Day Parade! Did you know the original parade route went from the Catholic Cathedral to today's Moon River Brewing Company?
We'll begin the experience with a 1-hour walking tour, led by former National Park Service Ranger Brandon Carter. We'll begin at the now lost Liberty Square (today's Montgomery St. & W York St.), site of 1824's Catholic Cathedral. The tour will detail the coming of the Irish to Savannah, the original Hibernian Society, and the first St. Patrick's Day Parade. We'll make our way to the site of the old City Hotel (today's Moon River Brewing Company) just as our city's forefathers did during the first parade 200 years ago.
At Moon River, you'll be treated to a delicious meal, along with a 12oz. sample of the brewery's beer. Over dinner, your guide will recite some of the very words first said in this building by a Catholic bishop on the evening of Savannah's first St. Patrick's Day parade. Your guide will even give the very toasts that were uttered two hundred years earlier!
Menu options include:
Sandwiches (includes one side):
Pulled Pork Shoulder
Beer Bratwurst
The Big Cheese
Chicken Sandwich (fried or grilled)
Chicken Caesar Wrap
Chicken Tenders (served with fries)
House Salad
Chicken Caesar Salad
One Pound of Chicken Wings
**The event will begin at 132 Montgomery St., just outside the western entrance of the Robinson Parking Garage and will end at Moon River Brewing**
