Savannah’s Waterfront is delighted to host our annual Independence Day Celebration. Please save the date of Thursday, July 4 for this free event.

The 3rd Infantry Division Band from Ft. Stewart in Hinesville, GA will be performing beginning at 6:30pm. Now known as the “Best Band in the Land”, the 3rd Infantry Division Band is a 40 member unit and has a variety of performing groups. Plans for Independence Day include performances by the New Orleans styled Brass Band, the Rock Band, and the Concert Band. The 3rd Infantry Division Band is a regular participant in both military and civilian events on Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga, Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA and the surrounding community. The band also travels throughout the southeast United States as a goodwill ambassador for the United States Government. This organization has performed in Africa, France, Italy, Central Europe, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The annual Independence Day Fireworks Show begins at 9:30pm and is expected to last about 20 minutes. Spectators on the waterfront can bring chairs and blankets; however, coolers are discouraged. The show takes place from a barge in the Savannah River in front of the Savannah Convention Center. River Street and the ramps will close at 6:30pm, and cars parked on the ramps and parking lots will need to remain there until the street opens to vehicular traffic after the show.
