n this acclaimed adaptation of the first novel by legendary Southern writer and Savannah native Flannery O’Connor, the brilliant and fearless filmmaker John Huston ("The Maltese Falcon") vividly brings to life her poetic, off-kilter world of American eccentricity. Brad Dourif delivers a riveting performance as Hazel Motes, a war veteran determined to found the Church Without Christ in the small Southern town of Taulkinham. Populated with unforgettable characters and inspired performances that feel as if they’ve leapt straight from O’Connor’s pages, "Wise Blood" is a darkly comic and incisive portrait of spirituality, fanaticism, and the search for meaning in a fractured world.
This special screening is co-presented by the Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home in celebration of O’Connor’s centennial year and will feature a post-film conversation with producer and Savannah native Stratton Leopold, who worked on the film. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home.
Tickets for the film are FREE for SCAD Card holders; $7 for students, seniors, and military; and $10 for the general public.
