Where: SCAD Museum of Art
Part historical record, part oration, part sonic escape, JJJJJerome Ellis’ latest musical project The Clearing traces the relationship between Blackness, speech disfluency, and music to reveal new ways of living outside of and resisting oppressive forces.
In this deeply meditative, intimate performance hosted by SCAD MOA’s Evans Center for African American Studies, Ellis invites audiences into The Clearing to consider and witness how Black sound transfigures sites of rupture, refusal, and retreat.
