Ruthie and Noel Wright, with The Isle of Hope Artisans League, started The Isle of Hope Art Show in year 2000.

Residents and artists joined together for the first show, which took place in front of Noel and the late Ruthie Wright's house on Bluff Drive. Eventually, it expanded to the Isle of Hope Marina & Pavilion.

In 2011, they moved the festival up from its annual November date to coincide with the IOH 275th Anniversary Celebration, which also included a parade, band performances and speeches by political officials.

Today, the festival has expanded to 90 artists and makers stationed from the IOH Marina & Pavilion down Rose Avenue, Bluff Drive and into Paxton Park. Local musicians perform at the festival and food trucks are located throughout. This is a rain or shine event, and admission is free to the public. Proceeds are donated to Isle of Hope Historical Association which is dedicated to collecting and presenting the island’s history, building community spirit, and spearheading the initiative to preserve the historic character of the Bluff.

Every Saturday in October Wormsloe State Historic Site will be holding a spooky scavenger hunt. It gives families a perfect way to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful natural and cultural resources here at Wormsloe while having some fun!

Guests that wish to participate in this scavenger hunt will make their way to the Museum where they will find two QR codes. These will provide detailed instructions and their first clue to begin their journey to find Noble Bones. Make sure and download a QR reader if you phone's camera doesn't already read a QR code.

The first clue will leave you to the first “Bones” family member hidden somewhere on the main trail. Near this skeleton will be the next QR code with the next clue. After you locate the fourth Bone’s family member, it will lead you to your final destination.

No additional program fees apply to participate in the scavenger hunt beyond admission to the site. The scavenger hunt will be available during operation hours each Saturday in October. Every Saturday will offer a different experience with unique locations and clues for locating the skeletons.

Join us for a morning of exploration on Georgia’s oyster aquaculture efforts! The morning begins on land with a guided tour of the UGA Shellfish Research Lab, where you will witness the bustling process of spawning and growing oyster seed for local farmers. Next, travel by boat with researchers from the UGA Shellfish Research Lab and marine educators from the UGA Aquarium to learn about oyster farms in the Bull River mariculture zone and oyster reef restoration. Along the way, experts will share insights into the vital role oyster reefs play in improving water quality, providing habitat, and mitigating coastal erosion.

On Thursday, October 9th, Coastal Heritage Society will honor those who fought during the 1779 Battle of Savannah, one of the most significant conflicts during Savannah’s Revolutionary War history and one of the war’s most pivotal battles.

Coastal Heritage Society’s Battlefield Memorial March event will lead guests through the footsteps of soldiers on that historic day in 1779.

This year, the march will begin at 9:00 am. All march participants will meet in the Savannah History Museum parking lot at 8:45 am. After the march, a wreath-laying and remembrance ceremony will be held on Battlefield Park.

Free and open to the public.
